The Supreme Audit Institutions of

the Slovak Republic and Ukraine
will join their forces
for conduction of the international
coordinated audit
on Transboundary Biosphere
Reservation "Eastern Carpathians"
On 21-22 December 2015 in Lviv
there was held a kick-off meeting
for the preparation and conduction
of the international coordinated
audit on Transboundary Biosphere
Reservation "Eastern Carpathians",
in which the representatives from
the Supreme Audit Institutions of
Ukraine and the Republic of Poland
participated.

The International Biosphere
Reservation "Eastern Carpathians"
is the first trilateral biosphere
reservation in the world and the
second largest in Europe that
spreads on the borders of the
Republic of Poland, the Slovak
Republic and Ukraine.
It was included in the
global list of biosphere
reservations under the UNESCO's
programme "Man and the Biosphere"
in 1998.
The abovementioned reservation
consists of:
- in the Republic of
Poland - Bieszczady National Park
and two landscape parks:
Cisna-Wetlina and San Valley;
- in the Slovak Republic
- Poloniny National Park with
surrounding territories;
- in Ukraine - Uzhansky
National Park and Nadsyansky
Regional Landscape Park.

Considering importance of the
effective functioning of the
biosphere reservation and with the
aim to maintain natural conditions
of the most typical natural systems
of the biosphere of three
countries, the SAIs of the Republic
of Poland, the Slovak Republic and
Ukraine will join their forces for
conduction of the mentioned
international audit.
During the kick-off meeting, the
parties discussed the draft Common
Position on Cooperation, agreed
time-frames for preparation and
implementation of the control and
analytical activities in the
framework of the audit in
2016-2017.
