Working Group on the Audit of Funds
Allocated to Disasters and
Catastrophes
On 6-7 April 2016 in Baku (Republic
of Azerbaijan), under the
chairmanship of the Accounting
Chamber of Ukraine and with the
support of the Chamber of Accounts
of the Republic of Azerbaijan the
II Meeting of the EUROSAI Working
Group on the Audit of Funds
Allocated to Disasters and
Catastrophes took place.

The Chairman of the Accounting
Chamber of Ukraine Roman Maguta
headed the delegation of the
Ukrainian SAI for the
aforementioned Meeting, which was
also attended by the Chairman of
the Chamber of Accounts of the
Republic of Azerbaijan Vugar
Gulmammadov, President of the Corte
dei Conti Raffaele Squitieri, as
well as other representatives from
14 supreme audit institutions.
On 6 April 2016 in the framework of
the Meeting the seminar "Practical
implementation of ISSAIs 5500-5599
"Guidelines on Audit of
disaster-related aid: risks of
fraud and corruption, using new
methods of data acquisition" took
place.
Invited international experts from
SAIs of the Republic of Indonesia,
the Netherlands and the Republic of
Turkey acquainted the participants
with the content and peculiarities
of ISSAIs 5500 "Guidelines on Audit
of Disaster-related Aid", shared
the experience and problems of
methodology development in the
sphere of catastrophes, as well as
presented possibilities for
implementation of the
aforementioned standards by SAIs in
practice.

During the plenary session on 7
April 2016 the report on the
Working Group's activity for the
period between February 2015 and
March 2016, the WG's activity areas
for the near-term perspective as
well as drafts of Common positions
on cooperation within the
international coordinated audits on
topics, which were preliminarily
agreed by the WG's members, were
presented to the participants.
In addition, the participants
shared their SAIs best practice in
preventing and eliminating
consequences of disasters, as well
as presented experience of
conducting relevant audits.
In the framework of the II Meeting
of the Working Group, the Chairman
of the Accounting Chamber of
Ukraine Roman Maguta held bilateral
meetings with the Chairman of the
Chamber of Accounts of the Republic
of Azerbaijan Vugar Gulmammadov and
the President of the Corte dei
Conti Raffaele Squitieri.
