participated in the International
Conference
On 21 April 2016 the delegation of
the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine
headed by the Chairman Roman Maguta
participated in the Conference on
International Coordinated Audit on
Protection of the Waters in the Bug
River Catchment Area from Pollution
(Follow up Audit), which was held
in Lublin (Republic of Poland).

The event, organized by the Supreme
Audit Office of the Republic of
Poland, was aimed at making
preliminary evaluation of this
trilateral control activity.
Reference: in 2006 the
Accounting Chamber of Ukraine
together with the State Control
Committee of the Republic of
Belarus and the Supreme Audit
Office of the Republic of Poland
conducted international audit on
protection of the waters in the Bug
River catchment area from
pollution. After its completion,
corresponding joint conclusions and
recommendations were prepared for
the governments of the audit
member-states.
Taking into account importance
and relevance of the issue of
purity of the Bug River waters as
well as necessity to implement
requirements of the EU Framework
Water Directive, the Accounting
Chamber of Ukraine together with
the Supreme Audit Office of the
Republic of Poland initiated in
2013 the International Follow-up
Audit of the previous control
activity, which was completed in
2006. The State Control Committee
of the Republic of Belarus
supported this initiative on a
later stage.
All national audits in the
framework of the aforementioned
audit were finalized in 2015.
During the Conference, the Chairman
of the Accounting Chamber of
Ukraine Roman Maguta presented
results of the national audit on
protection of the waters in the Bug
River catchment area from pollution
(follow-up audit), held working
meetings with his colleagues from
Poland and Belarus as well as
answered question from mass-media
representatives during the press
conference.

The important part of the
Conference was the Joint Communique
signed by the Parties. They
confirmed necessity to work more
actively in order to enhance
ecologic conditions of the Bug
River and find additional sources
of financing for corresponding
environmental measures.
During the dialogue with the mass
media representatives the Chairman
of the Accounting Chamber of
Ukraine Roman Maguta, in
particular, noted that conducting
environmental audits was one of the
priorities for the SAI of Ukraine.
He underlined special attention
paid to audits in the field of
water management held on regular
basis on national and international
levels. According to the Head of
the delegation of the Accounting
Chamber of Ukraine, joint
international audits in this area
were conducted jointly with the
supreme audit institutions from all
the countries bordering Ukraine.
The Chairman of the Accounting
Chamber of Ukraine expressed
assurance that the Joint
Communique, which was signed at the
Conference by the Heads of the
delegations would assist in solving
current problems regarding
improvement of the ecologic
conditions of the Bug River
catchment area and results as well
as recommendations of this audit
made by the SAIs of the Republic of
Belarus, the Republic of Poland and
Ukraine would be properly
implemented.
